Dr. Javier Cárdenas Featured on NBCNews.com for Concussion Expertise

Dr. Javier Cárdenas, the director of Barrow’s Concussion and Brain Injury Center, was featured on NBCNews.com for his work in concussion prevention and management.

The neurologist sits on the NFL’s Head, Neck and Spine Committee and evaluates players for possible concussions on the sidelines of games.

Dr. Cárdenas, who worked as a special education teacher before becoming a neurologist, also created the Barrow Concussion Network and Barrow Brainbook to provide concussion education to high school athletes. The Brainbook program requires high school athletes in Arizona to pass a test about concussions before they can participate in school sports.
