The Barrow Difference
The Barrow Difference – Aneurysms and Cerebrovascular Program
The Aneurysms and Cerebrovascular Program at Barrow Neurological Institute is world renowned in the treatment of blood vessel disorders in the brain and spinal cord. Our neurosurgeons treat some of the most complex aneurysms and malformations from around the globe.
Highly Experienced Team
Successful treatment for an aneurysm, arteriovenous malformation (AVM), or other malformation depends on skill and experience. Neurosurgeons at Barrow have treated more than 15,000 aneurysms and more than 5,000 malformations.
Our team includes experts in microneurosurgery, endovascular neurosurgery, and radiosurgery. Additionally, many of our nurses have received specialized training in the neurosciences and have been caring for patients with blood vessel disorders for decades. Whether you undergo conventional or minimally invasive treatment—or a combination of both—rest assured that you are in the best hands.

Neuro-Rehabilitation Services
When aneurysms and other blood vessel malformations rupture, they bleed into surrounding tissue. When this happens in the brain, it causes a hemorrhagic stroke. The Barrow Neuro-Rehabilitation Center offers inpatient, outpatient, and transitional neuro-rehabilitation services for individuals with stroke. Our neuro-rehabilitation team includes physical, occupational, and speech therapists; rehabilitation physicians and nurses; and neuropsychologists. We are also a leader in the use of neuro-robotics for rehabilitation. These technologies mimic normal human movements and adapt to support and challenge each patient’s unique abilities.
Aneurysm and AVM Research Center
We established the Barrow Aneurysm and AVM Research Center to better understand the genetics, formation, and rupture of vascular malformations. The Center fosters collaboration between neuroscientists and clinicians, who share the goal of developing new therapeutic approaches to stabilize aneurysms and AVMs and prevent their rupture. As part of a robust research program at the Institute, the Aneurysm and AVM Research Center offers many of our patients the opportunity to participate in clinical trials to advance the field.
