    Cerebrovascular & Skull Base Fellowship

Qualified applicants for the Cerebrovascular & Skull Base fellowship program have graduated from either an AOA or ACGME-accredited neurosurgery residency program. Foreign trained applicants must hold a valid ECFMG certificate and must have had at least 36-months of accredited post-graduate training in the US.

Cerebrovascular & Skull Base Fellowship Program Description

This one-year neurosurgery fellowship is divided into two six-month blocks with one block spent primarily on the clinical service and one block spent primarily focused on research projects in the Neurosurgical Research Laboratory. The fellowship is accredited by the Society of Neurological Surgeons and accepts 2 fellows a year.  Interested candidates are encouraged to apply 2-3 years prior to the anticipated year of fellowship training.

    Program Goals

To further specialize and develop advanced knowledge and technical skills in the management of patients with complex cerebrovascular/skull base disorders and to prepare for academic careers and consultative services in this subspecialty.

Cerebrovascular & Skull Base Clinical Duties

Fellows become an integral part of the Division of Neurosurgery and are to actively participate in the training and education of residents and medical students. Fellows are expected to share call with the attending physicians and be on call for complicated cases and/or post-operative complications. Fellows manage the pre- and post-op care of these patients in the surgical and outpatient clinic settings.
