    Neurology: How to Apply

    The Department of Neurology at Barrow Neurological Institute provides three residency tracks:

    Adult Neurology – Categorical
    Adult Neurology – Advanced Track
    Child Neurology

    Applicants to our residency tracks must apply through the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP) which uses the Electronic Residency Application System (ERAS).

    For information about applying for the neurology matching program, please contact the NRMP.

    The application deadline for all three tracks is November 1, 2013.

    Details On Our Residency Programs

    Adult Neurology Residency Program – Categorical

    Program Number 1012180C0

    • This is a four-year neurology training program
    • The candidate’s PGY-1 year would be completed in the Internal Medicine Program at St. Joseph’s
    • Number of positions available per academic year: 6
    • Current recruitment period is for the academic year that begins July 2014

    Adult Neurology Residency Program – Advanced Track

    Program Number 1012180A0

    • This program does not include the ACGME preliminary internal medicine training
    • Available for PGY-2s through PGY-4s
    • Applicants, typically, apply for both their preliminary and advanced programs at the same time through the NRMP
    • Number of positions available per academic year: 1
    • Current recruitment period is for the academic year that begins July 2016

    Child Neurology Residency Program

    Program Number 2952185C0

    • This is a three-year child neurology training program (for a PGY-3 through 5)
    • This track does include the ACGME preliminary pediatric training (PGY-1 & 2)
    • The PGY-3 year consists of training in adult neurology at St. Joseph’s
    • PGY-4 & 5 consists of training in Neurosciences at both St. Joseph’s and Phoenix Children’s Hospital
    • Number of positions available per academic year: 2
    • Current recruitment period is for the academic year that begins July 2014
