    David Medina, PhD

    Research Assistant Professor, Neurobiology

Originally from El Paso, Texas, Dr. Medina earned his PhD from the University of Texas Health Science Center in 2013.  During this time, he worked in the laboratory of Salvatore Oddo, PhD, researching the molecular mechanisms of Alzheimer’s disease and frontotemporal lobar degeneration.  His research interests included identifying the basic mechanisms and novel therapeutic candidates of neurodegenerative diseases.

Dr. Medina’s research focuses on developing better methods to target nanoparticles for drug delivery to regions of the central nervous system affected by neurodegenerative or neuromuscular diseases. His eventual goal is to deliver and evaluate new candidate drugs for the treatment of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
