Jasmin Stefani is a nurse practitioner in the Department of Neurosurgery at Barrow Neurological Institute. Before coming to Barrow, she was a registered nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center, where she cared for patients with traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, and corrective spine surgeries. Intrigued by the prospect of caring for patients throughout their lives, Jasmin returned to school, earning her master’s degree in advanced practice and obtaining her certification in family practice in 2012. She then obtained specialized training in neuroscience nursing.
Early in her career, Jasmin was primarily involved in the care of surgical patients with trauma-related injuries and orthopedic injuries. She also worked in the Perianesthesia Unit at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center, where she was exposed to presurgical patients from Barrow as well as general surgery patients. Working at St. Joseph’s—a level I trauma center—exposed her to a variety of trauma injuries and neurological and neurosurgical conditions. This environment eventually ignited her desire to specialize in neurosurgery as a nurse practitioner. Today, Jasmine is dedicated to providing the best care possible to Barrow’s neurosurgical patients.
