Kevin King, MD, MSCS, is a neuroradiologist and a professor in the Department of Neuroradiology at Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, Arizona. He also serves as director of the Barrow Neuroimaging Analysis Laboratory. He is board certified in diagnostic radiology and neuroradiology by the American Board of Radiology.
Dr. King’s expertise includes using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to identify and study treatable forms of dementia, specifically vascular dementia and normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH). He is a member of the American Society of Functional Neuroradiology, the American Society of Neuroradiology, and the International Society of Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
Dr. King earned his medical degree from the Health Sciences and Technology Joint Medical Program at Harvard-Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston. He earned a Master of Science degree in clinical translational sciences from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas.
Dr. King’s research interests include using automated image analysis to identify markers of NPH to help with screening for this underdiagnosed disorder. He also uses MRI to assess the health and function of blood vessels in the body and brain to better understand how vascular health impacts the brain. Dr. King serves as the radiologist for the Health and Aging Brain Study, a National Institutes of Health–funded study of 2,000 individuals to identify how factors such as the increased prevalence of diabetes among Hispanics may impact healthy brain aging and the risk of dementia.
