2022 Live Aneurysm Surgery Virtual Course

Course Goal

The clipping of a cerebral aneurysm requires a deep knowledge of the anatomy, as well as excellent skills. In a time where a substantial number of aneurysms are treated by endovascular methods, it becomes more challenging for a neurosurgeon to gain and to improve the surgical skills necessary to clip an aneurysm.

This course is designed for neurosurgeons looking for advanced training in treating cerebrovascular aneurysms, cavernous malformations and bypasses. It provides theoretical, practical and surgical training and knowledge on the application of Aesculap aneurysm clips.

Course Learning Preface

The course, led by Dr. Michael T. Lawton of Barrow Neurological Institute (BNI), in cooperation with Aesculap, Inc., will showcase approaches and microsurgical techniques for various lesions in two live operations.

During the course, there will be two operating rooms live streamed each day. Dr. Lawton will discuss the cases and present microsurgical videos after each operation. The operative schedule will highlight the application of aneurysm clips.

This year, Aesculap will be offering both in-person and live streamed options for this course. During the registration process, participants will be able to select which option they prefer. Both agendas are outlined below, please note the surgeries for the live streaming option may vary in frequency from the in-person format due to time and technology restrictions.
