Become a Patient
Most people need a referral from a physician before becoming a patient at Barrow. This is because many symptoms of neurological disorders can also be signs of other diseases that do not impact the nervous system. Being seen by a family doctor or general practitioner can help save you time by directing you to the specialist that can help you.
Some patients may wish to contact a physician directly to seek a second opinion or to find a specialist. If you want to do so, please visit our Contact Us page for information on whom to call. Our representatives will recommend the appropriate specialist based on your diagnosis. We also cater to international patients.
In some cases, your primary care physician may want to refer you to Barrow directly. If that is the case, they can call 1-877-264-4362 or E-mail [email protected] to receive assistance from a referral specialist.
If you are referred to one of our neurology or neurosurgery subspecialists, your pertinent medical history and radiological films typically are first sent to our team for review. If multiple specialties are involved in the treatment planning, as in the case of people with complex skull base lesions, craniofacial disorders, or brain tumors, referred cases are reviewed at monthly case conferences. These conferences give the entire team of specialists an opportunity to recommend appropriate treatment plans based on the specific needs of each patient.
