Stephanie Strickland

Stephanie Strickland MS, BSN, RN, CNRN

Neuroscience Nurse

Stephanie Strickland is the manager of the 32-bed Neurosurgical Intensive Care Unit at Barrow Neurological Institute. She began her nursing career in 1991 in Harrogate, England and relocated to Arizona in 2000.

Ms. Strickland earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from The University of Phoenix, and her Masters in Bioethics from Alden March Bioethics Institute at Albany Medical College. She is a certified Ethicist and an active member of the ethics consultation team at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center. She also co-facilitates the Alden March Capstone for the Ethics Certification in Phoenix, Arizona.

Stephanie has a passion for the practical application of ethics at the bedside. Since 2008 she has cofacilitated a series of practical ethics and moral distress workshops for members of the healthcare team. She is an active member of the Arizona Bioethics Network. In 2012, Stephanie helped to write “The Effect of Completing a Surrogacy Information and Decision-Making Tool upon Admission to an Intensive Care Unit on Length of Stay and Charges.” The article appeared in the Journal of Clinical Ethics.

Stephanie serves as co-chair of the multidisciplinary medication safety team and chairs the venous thromboembolism prevention team focusing efforts on reducing the incidence of preventable blood clots through collaboration and communication across clinical departments.
