Young Connecticut Woman is Seizure-Free Following Brain Surgery to Cure Epilepsy
Neurosurgeons at Barrow Neurological Institute at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix have successfully cured a young Connecticut woman’s epilepsy which was causing her multiple seizures a day. Sarena Salmeri, 21, of Plantsville, had a section of her brain removed to stop her seizures at Barrow in February. In May she returned to Barrow to undergo deep brain stimulation to have a pacemaker implanted into her brain to control hand tremors.
