3 Questions for the 2025 Barrow Clinical Neuropsychology Graduates

September will usher in a new academic year for the Clinical Neuropsychology Residency Program at Barrow Neurological Institute. To celebrate our 2025 graduates, we asked them to reflect on their most memorable moments at Barrow, the advice they would give to their younger selves on their first day of training, and which individuals influenced them the most during their time here. We’ve compiled their responses below.

“Your fortitude and perseverance will serve you well as you embark on your future careers. It has been an honor to work with you both during this final time in your training. I wish you all the best as you begin this next chapter of life.” – Krista Hanson, PhD, ABPP-CN, Director, Clinical Neuropsychology Residency Program

Katie Coddaire, PsyD

New role: Clinical Neuropsychologist, Psychological Assessment Center, PC, Long Beach, California

  1. My most memorable moments at Barrow include peering over Dr. Kris Smith’s shoulder during a Sylvian fissure dissection, witnessing a patient’s relief when their tremor ceased immediately after DBS surgery, and supporting patients and their families after a dementia diagnosis.
  2. The advice I would give to my younger self on my first day training at Barrow would be: “When you reach the peak, you’ll realize the mountain wasn’t the obstacle; you were.”
  3. The people who have influenced me the most at Barrow include my co-fellows, psychometrists, and clinical supervisors. Heartfelt thanks to Dr. George Prigatano for his invaluable guidance and inspiration in shaping my career.

Monica Acevedo-Molina, PhD

New role: Clinical Neuropsychologist, Barrow Neurological Institute, Phoenix, Arizona

  1. My most memorable moments at Barrow include holiday celebrations organized by our amazing practice supervisor, Sheri; mid-morning walks to the doctors’ lounge with my co-resident, Katelyn Coddaire; and Friday Starbucks runs with my fellow Puerto Rican colleagues.
  2. The advice I would give to my younger self on my first day of training at Barrow is that everything is going to work out just fine. You’ll discover new interests, meet incredible people, and grow more confident in yourself.
  3. I’ve been fortunate to learn something from all of my supervisors during my training. I have especially enjoyed working with Drs. Travis McCuddy and Alexander Tröster.
