Frederick Marciano, MD, PhD, is a general neurosurgeon with expertise in the management of a variety of disorders of the brain and spine. He uses the latest technologies and techniques, including microneurosurgery, computer navigation, stereotactic radiosurgery, and minimally invasive surgery. Dr. Marciano is the director of neurosciences for Honor Health, a five hospital system in Phoenix and Scottsdale, and also serves as chairman of neurological surgery at Scottsdale Osborn Medical Center.
Dr. Marciano received his B.S. degree with high honors from Hobart College in Geneva, New York, where he developed his interest in neuroscience. It was this experience that lead to a M.S. and a doctorate in neuroanatomy from the University of Rochester School of Medicine in New York. His research emphasis was on the use of tissue transplants for the treatment of brain and spinal cord injuries.
Dr. Marciano received his doctorate of medicine from Albany Medical College of Union University in New York where he graduated cum laude with distinction in research. His neurosurgical residency was completed at the Barrow Neurological Institute at Dignity Health St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix. He has published numerous basic science and clinical neurosurgery articles and chapters. Dr. Marciano is board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery.
Dr. Marciano served 22 years in the military and treated soldiers injured in the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
