Lea Scherschinski, MD

Postdoctoral Fellow

Lea Scherschinski, MD, is a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Translational Neuroscience at Barrow Neurological Institute. She works in the Barrow Aneurysm and AVM Research Center.

Dr. Scherschinski is a member of the European Association of Neurological Surgeons and the Society for Neuro-Oncology.

Dr. Scherschinski received her medical doctorate degree from Charité University Berlin in Germany. During her medical studies, she joined the laboratory of Dr. Peter Vajkoczy, where she investigated the Gas6-Axl signaling pathway in glioblastoma multiforme. She completed a stem cell research fellowship in the laboratory of Dr. Vijay Kuchroo at Harvard Medical School and completed neurosurgical clerkships at Mount Sinai Hospital and Charité University Berlin.

Dr. Scherschinski’s research interests include developing a mouse model that permits localized induction of brain arteriovenous malformations in transgenic mice.
