ABC’s Good Morning America featured Barrow Neurological Institute’s latest concussion survey and a student-athlete who was treated at the Barrow Concussion and Brain Injury Center.

The survey found that while one-third of Phoenix-area parents would not their children participate in football, 85 percent of parents would allow their children to participate in any contact sport.

Alexa Caiazzo, 16, was treated at Barrow after sustaining three concussions in club cheerleading. Dr. Javier Cárdenas, director of the Concussion and Brain Injury Center, discussed the concussion risk in contact sports, such as cheerleading and soccer, and the lack of concussion protocols in club sports.
