Barrow Neurosurgeon Dr. Laura Snyder was featured in a Phoenix Magazine article about female neurosurgeons.

According to the National Institutes of Health, women account for anywhere from 46 to 60 percent of medical school graduates in the United States but only 5 percent of board-certified neurosurgeons.

The article states that by best estimates, Dr. Snyder and Dr. Ruth Bristol – a pediatric neurosurgeon with Barrow at Phoenix Children’s Hospital – are two of only four women out of 143 neurosurgeons in the Phoenix area.
