Robotic Technology Helping With Spinal Surgeries at Barrow

A robotic technology developed at Barrow is changing the way neurosurgeons perform back surgeries. Currently used for spinal fusions, the Globus Medical ExcelsiusGPS allows neurosurgeons to perform less invasive and more precise surgery while significantly reducing recovery time.

The device utilizes 3D technology to help surgeons pre-map their surgeries and encompasses a robotic arm to precisely place implants into the patient’s spine.

Dr. Chang and one of his patients spoke to FOX 10 News in Phoenix about the technology.
