Risa Maruyama, PT

Director
Physical Therapy Neurologic Residency

Risa Maruyama, PT, is the director of the Physical Therapy Neurologic Residency Program at Barrow Neurological Institute. She is certified as a Neurologic Clinical Specialist by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialists. 

Ms. Maruyama’s expertise is grounded in the clinical and supervisory applications of acute neurological physical therapy and rehabilitation. She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, the Arizona Physical Therapy Association, and the Arizona Physical Therapy Directors Association. 

Ms. Maruyama received her Masters of Physical Therapy from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, preceded by her bachelor’s degree from San Jose State University in San Jose, California. 

Ms. Maruyama is committed to the long-term growth and development of intersecting physical therapy realms—like rehabilitation, occupational therapy, and speech therapy—and is a member of multiple patient care communities during the span of her decades-long tenure at Barrow.
