Shwetal Mehta, PhD, is the Ina Levine Chair for Brain Tumor Research at Barrow Neurological Institute and Deputy Director and Pre-Clinical Core Leader of the Ivy Brain Tumor Center. She received her MS from Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, India, in Molecular Biology and earned her PhD in Molecular Genetics and Microbiology from The University of Texas at Austin in 2003.
She completed her postdoctoral work in the Charles Stiles Laboratory at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School. Her postdoctoral work was focused on the identification of a potential therapeutic target for high-grade gliomas. She joined the Barrow as an principal investigator in January of 2013.
