Wonsuk Yoo, PhD

Wonsuk Yoo, PhD, is an associate professor of translational neuroscience and director of the Ivy Brain Tumor Center Biostatistics Program in the Department of Translational Neuroscience at Barrow Neurological Institute. He also leads the Biostatistics Core.

He has expertise in drug discovery, population-based cancer research, and preclinical and clinical trial design. He is a member of the American Association for Cancer Research, the American Statistics Association, and the American Public Health Association.

Dr. Yoo earned his Master of Science degree in statistics from the University of Florida in Gainesville and his Doctor of Philosophy degree in biostatistics from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.

Dr. Yoo’s research interests include the development of statistical and quantitative approaches and performing collaborative research to develop a novel approach to solve problems in clinical trials and observational studies. His current research focuses on the evaluation of phase 0 paradigms in brain tumor trials, the determination of threshold methods for pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic biomarkers, novel study design of phase 0 trigger trials using two-stage designs, and population-based, data-driven research using public-access big data (SEER, NHANES, TCGA, CMS, BioLINCC, etc).
