Faculty & Staff Directory
Yuan Xu, MD
Yuan Xu, MD, is a graduate student in The Loyal and Edith Davis Neurosurgical Research Laboratory in the Department of Neurosurgery at Barrow Neurological Institute.
Dr. Xu specializes in the study of intraoperative fluorescence imaging, particularly in the context of gliomas. He is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons.
Dr. Xu earned his medical degree from Fudan University Shanghai Medical College in China. He is currently pursuing his PhD through the Arizona State University-Barrow Neurological Institute Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Neuroscience.
Dr. Xu’s current research includes investigating the clinical applications of confocal laser endomicroscopy (CLE) and improving surgical fluorescence techniques for better CLE imaging. He is also deeply interested in exploring the intersection of technology and surgical excellence, including applying deep learning and computer vision to enhance neurosurgical training, as well as to process CLE images to facilitate diagnosis.
