Philanthropy Award
Barrow Neurological Foundation received the 2024 Philanthropy Award for the largest gift within the CommonSpirit Health system. The $25 million donation will support Barrow Neurological Institute’s initiative to explore the mysteries of the mind.
ACNS Young Investigator Award

John Eaton, MD, a clinical neurophysiology fellow at Barrow, received the 2025 Young Investigator Award from the American Clinical Neurophysiology Society. He earned the award for his poster, “Thalamic sEEG to Characterize Seizure Propagation,” at the ACNS Annual Meeting in Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Eaton’s co-authors from Barrow included neurosurgeon Andrew Yang, MD; neurologist David Harris, MD; and professor of electroneurodiagnostics Stephen Foldes, PhD. He also collaborated with Arizona State University and Creighton University.
Resident Teaching Scholar Award

Cyrus Elahi, MD, a PGY-5 neurosurgery resident at Barrow, has been selected by Creighton University’s Phoenix Campus class of 2025 to receive the Resident Teaching Scholar Award. The award recognizes the positive impact made by Dr. Elahi on the students’ third and fourth years of medical school.
