Barrow Neuro-Rehabilitation Continues Ascent in US News Rankings
U.S. News & World Report has again named Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, Arizona as one of the country’s “Best Hospitals for Rehabilitation.” The Institute continues to climb the ranks in rehabilitation, coming in at No. 32 for 2025-26—two spots higher than last year and five spots higher than the previous year.
To develop the latest top 50 list, U.S. News evaluated 1,049 rehabilitation hospitals around the country using data from sources like Medicare. Reviewers considered factors such as prevention of hospital readmission, patient volume, advanced technologies offered, and CARF accreditation.
“At Barrow, our neuro-rehabilitation team is driven by an overarching goal: to make a difference in the lives of the patients and families we serve,” said Christina Kwasnica, MD, Chair of the Department of Physical Medicine and Neuro-Rehabilitation at Barrow. “Being recognized four years in a row by U.S. News for the exceptional services we provide is an accomplishment that all staff should be proud of. It’s upward from here, as we continue our commitment to cutting-edge, patient-first care.”

In addition to this highly skilled, multidisciplinary team, Barrow boasts a suite of neuro-robotic devices and other advanced rehabilitation technologies. Many Barrow therapists have undergone special training in these devices, and the Center is continuously researching and implementing the latest technologies.
Barrow is also ranked in the “Best Hospitals for Neurology and Neurosurgery” category, a testament to the Institute’s care across the continuum for patients with neurological diseases, conditions, and injuries.
“I am proud to see our Neuro-Rehabilitation Center once again ranked as a top program in the country,” said Michael T. Lawton, MD, President and CEO of Barrow and Chair of the Institute’s Department of Neurosurgery. “For many of our patients, neurosurgery is just the first step in their journey to cure and recovery. It’s in neuro-rehabilitation, working with world-class clinicians and cutting-edge technologies like robotics, where these patients hit their stride. Providing the complete spectrum of care, from the operating room to intensive care to neuro-rehabilitation, on one campus is part of what makes the Barrow experience so unique and worth seeking.”
