Multiple Sclerosis Empowerment Summit

Who Should Attend

This program has been designed to meet the needs of patients who are being treated for neuroimmune disorders, especially multiple sclerosis, at Barrow Neurological Institute. Patients in attendance will receive resources on the latest medications, trials, and therapies available for them here at Barrow. The patients will also be able to ask questions and continue building their support network throughout the program.

Objectives

  • Explain current disease-modifying therapies available for multiple sclerosis
  • Define the current available clinical trials at Barrow
  • Explain importance of physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech
  • Introduce mindfulness and meditation to improve quality of life
  • Review updated nutritional recommendations for multiple sclerosis patients
  • Convey resources for caregivers and patients from a social work perspective
