Dr. Franzen earned his medical degree from the Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine at Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona. He completed both his neurology residency and a vascular neurology fellowship at Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, Arizona.

Dr. Franzen’s research interests involve the use of transcranial Doppler ultrasound (TCD) to guide stroke treatments and the application of mobile stroke units.
