Erik Ortega, MD, is a neurologist in the Gregory W. Fulton ALS and Neuromuscular Disease Center and an associate professor in the Department of Neurology at Barrow Neurological Institute. He is board certified in neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology with a subspecialty certification in neuromuscular medicine.
Dr. Ortega’s expertise includes the diagnosis and treatment of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), neuropathies, myopathies, and other neuromuscular diseases. He is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, the American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine, the American Clinical Neurophysiological Society, the Peripheral Nerve Society, and the World Muscle Society.
Dr. Ortega received his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He completed his neurology residency at Barrow Neurological Institute and a neuromuscular fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University.
