As for family members, we act as both an educational resource and emotional support source; both while your loved one is at our center and once again at home.
Our Treatment Team
Located at Barrow Neurological Institute, our treatment team is made up of licensed or certified specialists in neuropsychology, rehabilitation psychology, speech-language pathology, physical therapy, occupational therapy, vocational counseling, and recreational therapy. We also consult with referring physicians to review progress and medical needs, and have psychiatric and dietician consultations available as needed.

The Home Independence Program
After leaving the hospital or rehabilitation facility, you or your loved one may need 24-hour supervision at home—and here, our Center has you fully covered. The purpose of our Home Independence Program is to help you or your loved one become as independent as possible, while functioning as a productive and contributing member in your own home.
Prospective participants must show the cognitive and physical potential to reach improved independence in the home within six months of admission to this program.

The Transitional Program
Our Transitional Program is ideal for individuals with acquired brain injuries who are partly independent at home, but not yet fully ready to return to work or school. Therapies focus on building greater independence at home and community skills until participants are ready to move fully into the Work or School Re-Entry Programs.

The Work Re-Entry Program
Recovering from a brain injury often means unexpected challenges due to cognitive, physical, and personality changes; especially when returning to work. This is the driving force behind our Work Re-Entry Program. Whether you’re returning to your former job or working in a role with fewer responsibilities, a critical aspect of treatment is helping manage feelings of disappointment or frustration, and developing a hopeful but realistic outlook for the future.
Patients are discharged from the Work Re-Entry Program when at least eight to 12 weeks of successful participation in a paid work environment have been demonstrated.

The School Re-Entry Program
When returning to school after a brain injury, you’re likely to face frustrations related to academic goals, and our School Re-Entry Program helps you adjust to your new circumstances. This program focuses on facilitating your return to high school or higher education through appropriate therapies, as well as working with school personnel to identify and address whatever accommodations you’ll have upon returning to online coursework or a classroom setting.
Students are discharged from this program after they successfully attend school for one full term.

The Refresher Program
After completing formal rehabilitation, you or your loved one may benefit from the Refresher Program—especially when changes in work, school, or living situations take place. Attending on a short-term basis, patients will receive emotional support and updates in compensatory strategies to help adapt to lifestyle changes. Therapists will provide updated evaluations and recommend selected individual and group therapies to maximize outcomes.

The Fast-Track Program
Our Fast-Track Program is best for those with mild brain injuries getting ready to transition back to work. Patients best-suited to this program are within the first few months of a mild brain injury and require short-term targeted compensation training by a CTN team to re-integrate to their prior position. Psychoeducation and family support and education are also included.
CTN By the Numbers
At Barrow Neurological Institute’s Center for Transitional Neuro-Rehabilitation, out impact is measured not just in numbers, but in lives rebuilt.
These outcomes reflect our commitment to helping patients regain independence and return to work, school, and daily life.
